Narrative:
During final stages of climb out of miami (mia dtw), flight attendant called to say that a lav smoke detector was sounding and that it was 'smoky' in back. I went back while captain and first officer declared an emergency and started a descent into mco. I determined that there was no fire in lav (checked all enclosed areas). I then found smoke coming from oven in aft galley. I ensured that the ovens were off and that there was no active fire. I then called the cockpit with that information. We leveled off at FL240 while I and a pass riding company mechanic who was aboard checked the area more thoroughly, no continuing problem was discovered. We told center we were ok and received clearance to continue our flight to dtn. The smoke was most likely burning food and paper in the oven.

Title: GALLEY SMOKE SETS OFF TOILET SMOKE ALARM.

WE LEVELED OFF AT FL240 WHILE I AND A PASS RIDING COMPANY MECH WHO WAS ABOARD CHKED THE AREA MORE THOROUGHLY, NO CONTINUING PROB WAS DISCOVERED. WE TOLD CTR WE WERE OK AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CONTINUE OUR FLT TO DTN. THE SMOKE WAS MOST LIKELY BURNING FOOD AND PAPER IN THE OVEN.
