Narrative:

En route to ord, ZAU cleared us to cross kokomo at FL240. We were at FL280. The captain, who was the PF, put FL240 in the FMC and I put FL240 in the altitude reminder window. VNAV was in use and the FMC showed 2.6 NM to start descent point. The aircraft went past the descent point so the captain went to flch at 10.4 NM from okk, airspeed 280 KTS. He cracked the speed brakes to help in descent. I told him we weren't going to make it at the present rate. Center then asked if we were going to make the crossing restr. The captain nodded and I told center yes. At FL260, the autoplt captured FL240 and prepared to leveloff at FL240 by shallowing our descent and bringing the power up just below FL260. I informed the captain that the airplane was starting its leveloff and we weren't going to make okk at FL240. He didn't increase the pitch or use more speed brakes. We crossed okk at FL250 and the captain said 'we made it' as he continued to FL240 at the same rate (about 1000 FPM). I told him we missed it by 1000 ft. Center informed us we missed the crossing by 3 mi. The captain was nonchalant about it and got slightly irritated when center got curt with us about missing the restr. I was/am confused and upset about what just happened and got the next radio frequency wrong. I don't know why we didn't make the restr. I kept thinking the captain would pull the speed brakes and increase the speed and rate of descent with my verbal warnings that we were not going to make the crossing. This is my 2ND day (4TH leg) flying with him and I am new on the airplane, so perhaps he didn't trust my calculations. He also retires next month and doesn't want to and we had been talking about that just prior to our descent. It could be he was concentrating on his next career move and not our descent.

Title: LGT MISSES XING RESTR.

Narrative: ENRTE TO ORD, ZAU CLRED US TO CROSS KOKOMO AT FL240. WE WERE AT FL280. THE CAPT, WHO WAS THE PF, PUT FL240 IN THE FMC AND I PUT FL240 IN THE ALT REMINDER WINDOW. VNAV WAS IN USE AND THE FMC SHOWED 2.6 NM TO START DSCNT POINT. THE ACFT WENT PAST THE DSCNT POINT SO THE CAPT WENT TO FLCH AT 10.4 NM FROM OKK, AIRSPD 280 KTS. HE CRACKED THE SPD BRAKES TO HELP IN DSCNT. I TOLD HIM WE WEREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT AT THE PRESENT RATE. CTR THEN ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE THE XING RESTR. THE CAPT NODDED AND I TOLD CTR YES. AT FL260, THE AUTOPLT CAPTURED FL240 AND PREPARED TO LEVELOFF AT FL240 BY SHALLOWING OUR DSCNT AND BRINGING THE PWR UP JUST BELOW FL260. I INFORMED THE CAPT THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS STARTING ITS LEVELOFF AND WE WEREN'T GOING TO MAKE OKK AT FL240. HE DIDN'T INCREASE THE PITCH OR USE MORE SPD BRAKES. WE CROSSED OKK AT FL250 AND THE CAPT SAID 'WE MADE IT' AS HE CONTINUED TO FL240 AT THE SAME RATE (ABOUT 1000 FPM). I TOLD HIM WE MISSED IT BY 1000 FT. CTR INFORMED US WE MISSED THE XING BY 3 MI. THE CAPT WAS NONCHALANT ABOUT IT AND GOT SLIGHTLY IRRITATED WHEN CTR GOT CURT WITH US ABOUT MISSING THE RESTR. I WAS/AM CONFUSED AND UPSET ABOUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED AND GOT THE NEXT RADIO FREQ WRONG. I DON'T KNOW WHY WE DIDN'T MAKE THE RESTR. I KEPT THINKING THE CAPT WOULD PULL THE SPD BRAKES AND INCREASE THE SPD AND RATE OF DSCNT WITH MY VERBAL WARNINGS THAT WE WERE NOT GOING TO MAKE THE XING. THIS IS MY 2ND DAY (4TH LEG) FLYING WITH HIM AND I AM NEW ON THE AIRPLANE, SO PERHAPS HE DIDN'T TRUST MY CALCULATIONS. HE ALSO RETIRES NEXT MONTH AND DOESN'T WANT TO AND WE HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT THAT JUST PRIOR TO OUR DSCNT. IT COULD BE HE WAS CONCENTRATING ON HIS NEXT CAREER MOVE AND NOT OUR DSCNT.
