Narrative:
Departed goodland, ks, runup and takeoff normal. En route cruise 8500 ft MSL approximately 300 degree heading towards boulder, co. Approximately 1/2 to 3/4 hour explosion on right engine, observed cowling depart aircraft. Feathered and secured right engine per emergency checklist. Declared emergency and received radar vectors with ZDV. Aircraft was vectored toward a suitable airport and landed without incident in greeley, co.
