Narrative:
Taxied into position and hold on the active without proper authority/authorized. I had just had new radios and switch panels installed. Was still on ground frequency rather than the tower. Thought I was cleared into position. No traffic conflict occurred as I always check for incoming traffic even when cleared.

Narrative: TAXIED INTO POS AND HOLD ON THE ACTIVE WITHOUT PROPER AUTH. I HAD JUST HAD NEW RADIOS AND SWITCH PANELS INSTALLED. WAS STILL ON GND FREQ RATHER THAN THE TWR. THOUGHT I WAS CLRED INTO POS. NO TFC CONFLICT OCCURRED AS I ALWAYS CHK FOR INCOMING TFC EVEN WHEN CLRED.
