Narrative:
At FL260 on the nanci 5 arrival and given a late descent clearance to cross somto intersection at 13000 ft. We attempted to make the crossing using full speed brakes and nose low/high airspeed but with a 50 KT plus tailwind we saw that we would not be able to make the crossing. Attempted to let controller know on 125.45 but radio traffic was heavy and we did not get our transmission out until late in the descent. To complicate matters I was off frequency at the time getting the ATIS. We crossed somto at 15200 ft. We did not get a response from the controller concerning the crossing or our radio transmission.
