Narrative:
I was told to follow an aircraft below me. I never got it slowed down enough for good spacing. Runway 30 was in use, but since I was too close to the other aircraft, they landed me on runway 25. I was cleared to land with full length available. After touchdown, tower told me to go through intersection, and clear taxiway A1. I misunderstood the controller, and thought he said, 'at the intersection, taxi on taxiway a,' so I taxied on runway 30 while there was an aircraft on final. I guess the problem came from complacency since that was normal to do when runway 30 was not in use. Also have to be careful of the txwys in clearance, when they are the same letter but with numbers (ie, txwys A1, A2, A3).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF AN SMT TWIN ATX FAILED TO TURN OFF THE RWY WHERE INSTRUCTED RESULTING IN TAXIING ON AN ACTIVE RWY.
Narrative: I WAS TOLD TO FOLLOW AN ACFT BELOW ME. I NEVER GOT IT SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH FOR GOOD SPACING. RWY 30 WAS IN USE, BUT SINCE I WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE OTHER ACFT, THEY LANDED ME ON RWY 25. I WAS CLRED TO LAND WITH FULL LENGTH AVAILABLE. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, TWR TOLD ME TO GO THROUGH INTXN, AND CLR TXWY A1. I MISUNDERSTOOD THE CTLR, AND THOUGHT HE SAID, 'AT THE INTXN, TAXI ON TXWY A,' SO I TAXIED ON RWY 30 WHILE THERE WAS AN ACFT ON FINAL. I GUESS THE PROB CAME FROM COMPLACENCY SINCE THAT WAS NORMAL TO DO WHEN RWY 30 WAS NOT IN USE. ALSO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL OF THE TXWYS IN CLRNC, WHEN THEY ARE THE SAME LETTER BUT WITH NUMBERS (IE, TXWYS A1, A2, A3).
