Narrative:

Captain was flying on jet route southeast. Controller came up and said 'turn right to 170 degrees' because we were going left of the jet route and that he had inbound traffic. The captain came right as requested. All 3 crew members were surprised by the vector because we showed on the airway. I had also just made a comment to the so that we were passing directly over the macon VOR.
