Narrative:
Captain was flying on jet route southeast. Controller came up and said 'turn right to 170 degrees' because we were going left of the jet route and that he had inbound traffic. The captain came right as requested. All 3 crew members were surprised by the vector because we showed on the airway. I had also just made a comment to the so that we were passing directly over the macon VOR.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THE FO OF AN ACR CARGO ACFT RPTS THAT THE CTLR ISSUED A VECTOR TO THE FLC, STATING THAT THEY WERE OFF THE AIRWAY. THE RPTR BELIEVES THAT THE ACFT WAS ON THE AIRWAY.
Narrative: CAPT WAS FLYING ON JET RTE SE. CTLR CAME UP AND SAID 'TURN R TO 170 DEGS' BECAUSE WE WERE GOING L OF THE JET RTE AND THAT HE HAD INBOUND TFC. THE CAPT CAME R AS REQUESTED.
