Narrative:
Went to work on inbound write-up on aircraft on the gate. I opened nose gear door, relamped nose gear wheelwell down lock light. Signed off log page and returned logbook to cockpit. Left aircraft and went into the shop to get a ride to another aircraft at 'X' terminal to do another aircraft move. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter was contacted and related the following details. Job assigned was a nose gear wheelwell lock light bulb replacement on an MD80 airplane. Reporter manually unlocked and opened the right nose gear door to gain access to the light assembly. The bulb was replaced and checked ok. There was pressure to board the logbook as the jetway was ready to move away from the airplane. The logbook was signed for job accomplishment and delivered to the cockpit. Reporter was then assigned another aircraft move and left the area. No write-up was made to close and lock the open door. There is no maintenance manual procedure for a routine lamp replacement. Reporter stated no FAA contact regarding this incident.
