Narrative:
After departing a gate at terminal G at mia, received clearance to taxi to runway 9L. Before taxi out, I looked at airport diagram and mentally calculated how to get to runway 9R. The first officer acknowledged clearance to runway 9L, but I guess I expected to hear runway 9R. I held short of runway 12/30 because of an aircraft on that runway on landing rollout. Controller told us 'hurry across that intersection, the B747 is turning on taxiway T.' this fit in with my expectations and I hurried across runway 12, toward runway 9R. Ground then commented that we had been cleared to runway 9L, but we could now continue to runway 9R via taxiway T. No conflict occurred with other aircraft, but this incident does reinforce the need to pay more attention to these important details. The first officer was busy doing taxi checklists instead of checking my taxiing. A little extra attention on either of our parts would have avoided some unnecessary confusion.

Title: MLG FLC GETS MIND SET AND TAXIES TOWARD WRONG RWY. CTLR INTERVENES, ISSUES NEW CLRNC.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING A GATE AT TERMINAL G AT MIA, RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 9L. BEFORE TAXI OUT, I LOOKED AT ARPT DIAGRAM AND MENTALLY CALCULATED HOW TO GET TO RWY 9R. THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED CLRNC TO RWY 9L, BUT I GUESS I EXPECTED TO HEAR RWY 9R. I HELD SHORT OF RWY 12/30 BECAUSE OF AN ACFT ON THAT RWY ON LNDG ROLLOUT. CTLR TOLD US 'HURRY ACROSS THAT INTXN, THE B747 IS TURNING ON TXWY T.' THIS FIT IN WITH MY EXPECTATIONS AND I HURRIED ACROSS RWY 12, TOWARD RWY 9R. GND THEN COMMENTED THAT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO RWY 9L, BUT WE COULD NOW CONTINUE TO RWY 9R VIA TXWY T. NO CONFLICT OCCURRED WITH OTHER ACFT, BUT THIS INCIDENT DOES REINFORCE THE NEED TO PAY MORE ATTN TO THESE IMPORTANT DETAILS. THE FO WAS BUSY DOING TAXI CHKLISTS INSTEAD OF CHKING MY TAXIING. A LITTLE EXTRA ATTN ON EITHER OF OUR PARTS WOULD HAVE AVOIDED SOME UNNECESSARY CONFUSION.
