Narrative:
#2 engine RPM approached limits with takeoff thrust set, aborted takeoff at low speed (70 KIAS). Although fuel heat and engine anti-ice had been used, crew suspected cold WX soak in bzn for 5 days was cause. Possibly ice in fuel control or ice at PT7 probe causing low EPR and high RPM. Crew applied more fuel heat and ran engine up to takeoff thrust 4 times with normal parameters. Crew also ran up #1 and #3 engines with normal parameters, takeoff and flight normal.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B727-200 ABORTED TKOF DUE TO #2 ENG UNABLE TO MAKE TKOF PWR.
Narrative: #2 ENG RPM APCHED LIMITS WITH TKOF THRUST SET, ABORTED TKOF AT LOW SPD (70 KIAS). ALTHOUGH FUEL HEAT AND ENG ANTI-ICE HAD BEEN USED, CREW SUSPECTED COLD WX SOAK IN BZN FOR 5 DAYS WAS CAUSE. POSSIBLY ICE IN FUEL CTL OR ICE AT PT7 PROBE CAUSING LOW EPR AND HIGH RPM. CREW APPLIED MORE FUEL HEAT AND RAN ENG UP TO TKOF THRUST 4 TIMES WITH NORMAL PARAMETERS. CREW ALSO RAN UP #1 AND #3 ENGS WITH NORMAL PARAMETERS, TKOF AND FLT NORMAL.
