Narrative:
I was the pilot on break asleep in the cabin (normal rest area for augmented crew). The non flying relief pilot was in my seat (first officer) when the captain left the cockpit for physiological reasons. When the captain left the cockpit the relief first officer didn't put on his oxygen mask. An FAA inspector found him alone in the cockpit without an oxygen mask on. I returned to the cockpit after my break and found out what happened. I was not in the cockpit when the event occurred. I had nothing to do with it. As it turns out I became ill on the layover with 103.5 degree fever. I deadheaded home after a visit to the hospital.
