Narrative:
We had an air interruption because of a mechanical problem about 1 hour out of lax. We and dispatch decided we would return to lax and because of our gross weight we had to dump fuel. We dumped all we could, 41000 pounds, and were still about 15000 pounds overweight. We declared an emergency and landed at 324800 pounds. Touchdown was at 100-200 FPM and very smooth.
