Narrative:
After landing at bwi ground gave us instructions to taxi to taxiway P, go past the 'guarded' lights at taxiway east onto P1, left on runway 22. We taxied via taxiway P and reached the guarded lights at taxiway east and turned left onto taxiway east and started to turn left on runway 28. Controller stopped us at this point. 1) my fault for not confirming the route by checking the plate. Contributing: 1) controller referencing the guarded lights and taxiway east, the 'go past' phraseology was confusing. 2) my copilot admitted he thought we were turning the wrong way, but remained silent, with ground chart in hand. I spoke to the tower supervisor, apparently they have had trouble with the taxiway east and runway 28 intersection and added the guarded lights, perhaps if the controller would change the phrase to 'do not cross or turn at the guarded lights' this may help to avoid this situation. I personally plan to be more diligent in checking the ground chart.

Title: MLG ACFT TAXIING AFTER LNDG, RPTR CAPT DIDN'T FOLLOW SPECIFIC TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, BUT GND CTLR STOPPED THEM BEFORE XING THE ACTIVE RWY.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT BWI GND GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI TO TXWY P, GO PAST THE 'GUARDED' LIGHTS AT TXWY E ONTO P1, L ON RWY 22. WE TAXIED VIA TXWY P AND REACHED THE GUARDED LIGHTS AT TXWY E AND TURNED L ONTO TXWY E AND STARTED TO TURN L ON RWY 28. CTLR STOPPED US AT THIS POINT. 1) MY FAULT FOR NOT CONFIRMING THE RTE BY CHKING THE PLATE. CONTRIBUTING: 1) CTLR REFERENCING THE GUARDED LIGHTS AND TXWY E, THE 'GO PAST' PHRASEOLOGY WAS CONFUSING. 2) MY COPLT ADMITTED HE THOUGHT WE WERE TURNING THE WRONG WAY, BUT REMAINED SILENT, WITH GND CHART IN HAND. I SPOKE TO THE TWR SUPVR, APPARENTLY THEY HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE TXWY E AND RWY 28 INTXN AND ADDED THE GUARDED LIGHTS, PERHAPS IF THE CTLR WOULD CHANGE THE PHRASE TO 'DO NOT CROSS OR TURN AT THE GUARDED LIGHTS' THIS MAY HELP TO AVOID THIS SIT. I PERSONALLY PLAN TO BE MORE DILIGENT IN CHKING THE GND CHART.
