Narrative:
Clearance was direct to myton VOR. ATC called us and queried our route direct to myton. We referenced HSI which showed heading was 45 degrees off from myton. As best we could tell, the reason for the heading error was caused by leaving the autoplt turn knob slightly out of the neutral detent. The 1/2 degree bank was not noticeable and the heading error slowly occurred.
