Narrative:
Captain and I misunderstood crossing restr of 12000 ft at bqs on bqs arrival into mci. I was set up to cross next fix matz at 12000 ft. Controller asked us if we would make/understood crossing restr at bqs. First officer flying, increased rate of descent, crossed bqs at approximately 14000 ft. ATC controller did not indicate conflict or problem, no targets on TCASII. He switched us over to approach control with no further comments.

Title: MD80 CREW DID NOT COMPLY WITH A XING RESTR IN ZKC CLASS E AIRSPACE.
Narrative: CAPT AND I MISUNDERSTOOD XING RESTR OF 12000 FT AT BQS ON BQS ARR INTO MCI. I WAS SET UP TO CROSS NEXT FIX MATZ AT 12000 FT. CTLR ASKED US IF WE WOULD MAKE/UNDERSTOOD XING RESTR AT BQS. FO FLYING, INCREASED RATE OF DSCNT, CROSSED BQS AT APPROX 14000 FT. ATC CTLR DID NOT INDICATE CONFLICT OR PROB, NO TARGETS ON TCASII. HE SWITCHED US OVER TO APCH CTL WITH NO FURTHER COMMENTS.
