Narrative:
On climb out from the vny airport, being radar vectored for ILS runway 8 bur, assigned 3500 ft MSL. Recovered and stopped climb at 3900 ft MSL. Returned to last assigned altitude of 3500 ft. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that he looked up from his chart review and noticed that the first officer flying had overshot assigned altitude of which the first officer corrected back down at once. There was no inquiry from ATC.

Title: FO OF A MIL C130 OVERSHOT INTERMEDIATE TRANSITION ALT DURING CLBOUT. THE CAPT CAUGHT THE MISTAKE AND THE FO RETURNED TO ASSIGNED ALT.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT FROM THE VNY ARPT, BEING RADAR VECTORED FOR ILS RWY 8 BUR, ASSIGNED 3500 FT MSL. RECOVERED AND STOPPED CLB AT 3900 FT MSL. RETURNED TO LAST ASSIGNED ALT OF 3500 FT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE LOOKED UP FROM HIS CHART REVIEW AND NOTICED THAT THE FO FLYING HAD OVERSHOT ASSIGNED ALT OF WHICH THE FO CORRECTED BACK DOWN AT ONCE. THERE WAS NO INQUIRY FROM ATC.
