Narrative:
We landed runway 28R at sfo without hearing landing clearance from sfo tower. We held short of runway 28L and tower cleared us to cross runway 28L and contact ground control. We were cleared to the gate (runway 25) with no further instructions/requests. A moderate tailwind on approach (quiet bridge visual to runway 28R) caused us to have a bit too much energy and we focused on assuring we were 'stable' at 500 ft AGL. While I am 100% responsible for this situation, had the approach controller 'turned us over' to the tower controller, this probably would not have happened.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B757 FLC LANDS WITH RECEIVING LNDG CLRNC WHILE NOT ON TWR FREQ AT SFO, CA.
Narrative: WE LANDED RWY 28R AT SFO WITHOUT HEARING LNDG CLRNC FROM SFO TWR. WE HELD SHORT OF RWY 28L AND TWR CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 28L AND CONTACT GND CTL. WE WERE CLRED TO THE GATE (RWY 25) WITH NO FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS/REQUESTS. A MODERATE TAILWIND ON APCH (QUIET BRIDGE VISUAL TO RWY 28R) CAUSED US TO HAVE A BIT TOO MUCH ENERGY AND WE FOCUSED ON ASSURING WE WERE 'STABLE' AT 500 FT AGL. WHILE I AM 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SIT, HAD THE APCH CTLR 'TURNED US OVER' TO THE TWR CTLR, THIS PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
