Narrative:
Departure paris (cdg) on amoga SID from runway 27L, SID restricts to fl 100. We were level at fl 100 and were cleared to fl 110. All 3 pilots heard this. We selected fl 110, double pointed to it and then climbed to FL110. Also, we readback fl 110. This instruction was given by a male controller. He then gave us a frequency change on which we could make no contact. When we returned to the previous frequency, a controller said to climb and maintain FL180, but you should have been at FL100. Sounded like there may have been a conflict of altitude between controller, but nothing further was said, and we were handed off to another controller who cleared us to a higher altitude. We were fully automated in LNAV and VNAV, WX was VMC and did not see any other aircraft in our area. ATC in france was having a controllers strike on this day. Maybe a controller change or mis-briefed to the incoming controller had something to do with it. There did seem to be some doubt in her voice.
