Narrative:
I was involved with the write-up and deferral of the forward pit. Looking back, the wrong MEL reference was used, by mistake. Maintenance called shortly after the pit was deferred out. Line maintenance pointed out that the wrong MEL reference was used and he would change the MEL reference. The mistake: looking at the MEL card, the first MEL number is for the aft pit, and the second number is for the forward pit. The write-up stated that the forward pit was damaged, and not to be used. The MEL placard stated the aft pit not to be used. The forward pit was not loaded and leaving xyz on may/xa/01.
