Narrative:
ZMA told us to go direct kubic and cross at 9000 ft. We had deviated around WX and we were on about a 140 degree heading for kubic. I reported to ZMA that our radar showed a thunderstorm at kubic. Center asked our altitude approaching kubic. I reported we were still at 11000 ft and ZMA immediately gave us a 100 degree heading and a descent to 5000 ft. No other comments were made. I had failed to make my situation near the storm clear to the controller and I failed to cross kubic intersection at the assigned altitude.

Narrative: ZMA TOLD US TO GO DIRECT KUBIC AND CROSS AT 9000 FT. WE HAD DEVIATED AROUND WX AND WE WERE ON ABOUT A 140 DEG HDG FOR KUBIC. I RPTED TO ZMA THAT OUR RADAR SHOWED A TSTM AT KUBIC. CTR ASKED OUR ALT APCHING KUBIC. I RPTED WE WERE STILL AT 11000 FT AND ZMA IMMEDIATELY GAVE US A 100 DEG HDG AND A DSCNT TO 5000 FT. NO OTHER COMMENTS WERE MADE. I HAD FAILED TO MAKE MY SIT NEAR THE STORM CLR TO THE CTLR AND I FAILED TO CROSS KUBIC INTXN AT THE ASSIGNED ALT.
