Narrative:
I was #2 in a flight of 2. Lead was navigating, although I also had GPS and current sectional and NOTAMS. Planned to traverse long island under outer ring of isp class 'C' and outside 25 NM tfr from jfk VOR. We believe we did that. But ny approach said we cut the corner of the tfr. They suggested that the area we were trying to use was too small and we should have gone east around class 'C'. I agree. Problem compounded by the fact I had not marked the tfr on my chart and was using moving map on GPS to estimate tfr localizer although we discussed this route and the tfr we should have been more conservative and realized the 'corridor' was really too small. Other factor were we wanted to cross li sound at a narrow point and we were at the end of a 2:20 flight. Going east would have added 20 mins and caused twice time over water. Supplemental information from acn 525456: we were ferrying 2 acfts from vermont to bayport long island and planned to fly under the outer ring of the class C (islip), and outside the 25NM tfr under jfk VOR. The corridor is very narrow. We believed we did not violate the 25 NM tfr, but ny TRACON said we 'clipped' the corner. They advised that with the new tfr, it is too tight to isp's class C. We agree and will transit east of isp's class C or through it with ATC or tower permission. We had chosen this route because it is the shortest distance over water and believed we would not create a problem.

Title: PIPER 18 AND WACO BIPLANE PLTS INADVERTENTLY ENTERED TEMPORARY FLT RESTRICTION AIRSPACE UNDER CLASS C AIRSPACE.
Narrative: I WAS #2 IN A FLT OF 2. LEAD WAS NAVING, ALTHOUGH I ALSO HAD GPS AND CURRENT SECTIONAL AND NOTAMS. PLANNED TO TRAVERSE LONG ISLAND UNDER OUTER RING OF ISP CLASS 'C' AND OUTSIDE 25 NM TFR FROM JFK VOR. WE BELIEVE WE DID THAT. BUT NY APCH SAID WE CUT THE CORNER OF THE TFR. THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE AREA WE WERE TRYING TO USE WAS TOO SMALL AND WE SHOULD HAVE GONE E AROUND CLASS 'C'. I AGREE. PROB COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT I HAD NOT MARKED THE TFR ON MY CHART AND WAS USING MOVING MAP ON GPS TO ESTIMATE TFR LOC ALTHOUGH WE DISCUSSED THIS RTE AND THE TFR WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CONSERVATIVE AND REALIZED THE 'CORRIDOR' WAS REALLY TOO SMALL. OTHER FACTOR WERE WE WANTED TO CROSS LI SOUND AT A NARROW POINT AND WE WERE AT THE END OF A 2:20 FLT. GOING E WOULD HAVE ADDED 20 MINS AND CAUSED TWICE TIME OVER WATER. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 525456: WE WERE FERRYING 2 ACFTS FROM VERMONT TO BAYPORT LONG ISLAND AND PLANNED TO FLY UNDER THE OUTER RING OF THE CLASS C (ISLIP), AND OUTSIDE THE 25NM TFR UNDER JFK VOR. THE CORRIDOR IS VERY NARROW. WE BELIEVED WE DID NOT VIOLATE THE 25 NM TFR, BUT NY TRACON SAID WE 'CLIPPED' THE CORNER. THEY ADVISED THAT WITH THE NEW TFR, IT IS TOO TIGHT TO ISP'S CLASS C. WE AGREE AND WILL TRANSIT E OF ISP'S CLASS C OR THROUGH IT WITH ATC OR TWR PERMISSION. WE HAD CHOSEN THIS RTE BECAUSE IT IS THE SHORTEST DISTANCE OVER WATER AND BELIEVED WE WOULD NOT CREATE A PROBLEM.
