Narrative:
I was cleared from parking to taxi to runway 20 at the mckellar sipes regional airport. The controller said 'XXXX cross runway 29, taxi to and hold short of runway 20.' I proceeded northbound on the parallel taxiway and crossed runway 29. As I continued the taxi towards runway 20 I saw the hold line and applied heavy braking in order to avoid crossing it. At the point at which I was able to stop the aircraft, the nose of the aircraft was approximately 4 ft over the hold line. Because the sun was setting and the hold line was in an unusual location I was taken by surprise when I did see the hold line, and was unable to avoid partially crossing it. I would highly recommend because of the location of this hold line, a sign next to the hold line, which would enable pilots to see the location of the line and avoid crossing it in the future.

Title: LJ25 CREW, TAXIING FOR TKOF AT MKL, TAXIED PAST THE DEP RWY HOLD SHORT LINE.
Narrative: I WAS CLRED FROM PARKING TO TAXI TO RWY 20 AT THE MCKELLAR SIPES REGIONAL ARPT. THE CTLR SAID 'XXXX CROSS RWY 29, TAXI TO AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 20.' I PROCEEDED NORTHBOUND ON THE PARALLEL TXWY AND CROSSED RWY 29. AS I CONTINUED THE TAXI TOWARDS RWY 20 I SAW THE HOLD LINE AND APPLIED HVY BRAKING IN ORDER TO AVOID CROSSING IT. AT THE POINT AT WHICH I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE ACFT, THE NOSE OF THE ACFT WAS APPROX 4 FT OVER THE HOLD LINE. BECAUSE THE SUN WAS SETTING AND THE HOLD LINE WAS IN AN UNUSUAL LOCATION I WAS TAKEN BY SURPRISE WHEN I DID SEE THE HOLD LINE, AND WAS UNABLE TO AVOID PARTIALLY CROSSING IT. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THIS HOLD LINE, A SIGN NEXT TO THE HOLD LINE, WHICH WOULD ENABLE PLTS TO SEE THE LOCATION OF THE LINE AND AVOID CROSSING IT IN THE FUTURE.
