Narrative:

We landed at ewr airport on runway 4R. Tower instructed us to turn left on taxiway P and hold short of taxiway J. I told the captain to hold short of taxiway J as we approached it. He did not stop until our nose was sticking out into taxiway J. The captain said 'well, too late now,' and went ahead and made the right turn onto taxiway H, holding short of runway 4L. Tower told us to cross runway 4L and hold short of taxiway south and call ground. We crossed runway 4L and our nose was past the holding line on the other side, however, our tail may not have been clear of the holding line when we stopped. The ground frequency was congested. When ground called us they told us to move up away from the runway. In the future, I will confirm all hold shorts with the captain immediately on receipt and make sure we are well clear of crossed runways.

Title: B737 CAPT FAILED TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY DURING TAXI IN AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY STOPPED TOO EARLY FOR THE NEXT TXWY CAUSING THE ACFT TAIL TO PROTRUDE INTO THE RWY OF WHICH HE HAD JUST CROSSED.

Narrative: WE LANDED AT EWR ARPT ON RWY 4R. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TURN L ON TXWY P AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY J. I TOLD THE CAPT TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY J AS WE APCHED IT. HE DID NOT STOP UNTIL OUR NOSE WAS STICKING OUT INTO TXWY J. THE CAPT SAID 'WELL, TOO LATE NOW,' AND WENT AHEAD AND MADE THE R TURN ONTO TXWY H, HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 4L. TWR TOLD US TO CROSS RWY 4L AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY S AND CALL GND. WE CROSSED RWY 4L AND OUR NOSE WAS PAST THE HOLDING LINE ON THE OTHER SIDE, HOWEVER, OUR TAIL MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CLR OF THE HOLDING LINE WHEN WE STOPPED. THE GND FREQ WAS CONGESTED. WHEN GND CALLED US THEY TOLD US TO MOVE UP AWAY FROM THE RWY. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL CONFIRM ALL HOLD SHORTS WITH THE CAPT IMMEDIATELY ON RECEIPT AND MAKE SURE WE ARE WELL CLR OF CROSSED RWYS.
