Narrative:
We thought lga tower cleared us into position and hold on runway 31. Lga tower sent aircraft on 1 mi final around. This was a combination readback/hearback error. Contributing factors were high workload environment (single runway operations) combined with lack of rest due to late arrival the night before, caused by new york WX and ATC delays at lga. Corrective actions: recognize the high workload and slow down, also PF (ie, taxiing) should read back all clrncs for the pilot talking on the radio to confirm.
