Narrative:
I departed opa locka airport VFR from runway 9L with approval to make a left turn to the southwest to key west, fl. At 1100 ft MSL, I leveled off to check the chart and GPS for the floors of mia class B airspace and the dimensions off an alert area that I knew existed in my route to key west. My copilot flies to opa locka 2-3 times a week with another company and informed me that the floor of class B airspace with 3000 ft. I doublechked for myself and verified that it was 3000 ft and the alert area of A-291D was surface to 3000 ft. I then started a climb to 2500 ft for wbound direction +500 ft VFR and plotted a course to clear the alert area. About that time I heard an aircraft inform opf that he needed a phone number because he almost had a midair with a king air. As he was on the ILS I knew the king air in question was probably me. I told opf tower that I was at the proper altitude for direction of flight and clear of all airspace. I was also a controller for 10 yrs and I never heard any TA's to either airplane. I think he was IFR.

Title: A BE9L PLT, DURING INITIAL CLB FROM OPF, HEARD ANOTHER ACFT RPT AN NMAC WITH A 'KING AIR.' UPON HEARING THE RPT, THE RPTR ASSUMED HIS ACFT WAS THAT 'KING AIR.'
Narrative: I DEPARTED OPA LOCKA ARPT VFR FROM RWY 9L WITH APPROVAL TO MAKE A L TURN TO THE SW TO KEY WEST, FL. AT 1100 FT MSL, I LEVELED OFF TO CHK THE CHART AND GPS FOR THE FLOORS OF MIA CLASS B AIRSPACE AND THE DIMENSIONS OFF AN ALERT AREA THAT I KNEW EXISTED IN MY RTE TO KEY WEST. MY COPLT FLIES TO OPA LOCKA 2-3 TIMES A WK WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AND INFORMED ME THAT THE FLOOR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE WITH 3000 FT. I DOUBLECHKED FOR MYSELF AND VERIFIED THAT IT WAS 3000 FT AND THE ALERT AREA OF A-291D WAS SURFACE TO 3000 FT. I THEN STARTED A CLB TO 2500 FT FOR WBOUND DIRECTION +500 FT VFR AND PLOTTED A COURSE TO CLR THE ALERT AREA. ABOUT THAT TIME I HEARD AN ACFT INFORM OPF THAT HE NEEDED A PHONE NUMBER BECAUSE HE ALMOST HAD A MIDAIR WITH A KING AIR. AS HE WAS ON THE ILS I KNEW THE KING AIR IN QUESTION WAS PROBABLY ME. I TOLD OPF TWR THAT I WAS AT THE PROPER ALT FOR DIRECTION OF FLT AND CLR OF ALL AIRSPACE. I WAS ALSO A CTLR FOR 10 YRS AND I NEVER HEARD ANY TA'S TO EITHER AIRPLANE. I THINK HE WAS IFR.
