Narrative:
After landing on runway 26R in atl, we were told to taxi on taxiway B and hold short of taxiway H. Ground control told us that our gate was unavailable. I heard, understood and read back the hold short clearance. While taxiing wbound on taxiway B I started to check on the status of our gate while running the after landing checklist. I first called gatekeeper who in turn told me to contact ramp. While I was checking on our gate and running the after landing checklist, the captain taxied wbound on taxiway B then turned on taxiway H, holding short of runway 26L. He later told me he understood to hold short 'on' taxiway H instead 'of' taxiway H. In my judgement I should have just run the after landing checklist and checked with the gatekeeper after crossing all taxi and runways. The captain and I should have also discussed the hold short clearance to make sure we understand each other.

Title: AN MD80 CREW, AFTER LNDG AT ATL, CROSSED A TXWY THEY WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 26R IN ATL, WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI ON TXWY B AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY H. GND CTL TOLD US THAT OUR GATE WAS UNAVAILABLE. I HEARD, UNDERSTOOD AND READ BACK THE HOLD SHORT CLRNC. WHILE TAXIING WBOUND ON TXWY B I STARTED TO CHK ON THE STATUS OF OUR GATE WHILE RUNNING THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. I FIRST CALLED GATEKEEPER WHO IN TURN TOLD ME TO CONTACT RAMP. WHILE I WAS CHKING ON OUR GATE AND RUNNING THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST, THE CAPT TAXIED WBOUND ON TXWY B THEN TURNED ON TXWY H, HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 26L. HE LATER TOLD ME HE UNDERSTOOD TO HOLD SHORT 'ON' TXWY H INSTEAD 'OF' TXWY H. IN MY JUDGEMENT I SHOULD HAVE JUST RUN THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST AND CHKED WITH THE GATEKEEPER AFTER XING ALL TAXI AND RWYS. THE CAPT AND I SHOULD HAVE ALSO DISCUSSED THE HOLD SHORT CLRNC TO MAKE SURE WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER.
