Narrative:

We departed on runway 32L at T-10; climbout was normal; talking to departure then ZAU on 127.4. Just before frequency change at 14000 ft we were asked our speed and I responded with 285 kts; then center advised us that there was a speed restriction that had been recently added to the ord 3 of 250 kts until advised. Then we changed frequency and were cleared to resume normal speed. This was about 1 minute after we were advised of the speed restriction. We accelerated to 285 kts around 11000 ft so we were at 285 kts for 3000 ft or less than 1 minute. In the briefing; I missed the change to the SID -- it was my mistake -- this was my second trip in several months and this was a change that occurred while I was out of work. I just missed reading it in the briefing. I did not see any other traffic on the TCAS that was close to us to be a problem with our extra 35 kts for that time period.
