Narrative:
[We] successfully performed an uneventful abort at less than 50 KIAS for suspected tire failure on runway 12 mia. We exited runway and tire failure was confirmed by mia dade (airport) representative. Company maintenance was informed and tow-in to gate was requested and received. Damage was later discovered by mia dade to a temporary taxi light positioned near the centerline taxiway at approach end of runway 12 which was a possible source of damage to the failed tire. Please note that the temporary taxi lights appeared to be arranged in an extremely haphazard and erratic fashion and were obscured by moderate to heavy rain at the time of the incident. Also there was extreme urgency by the tower to rush the takeoff.
