Narrative:
During approach; on downwind to runway xx; [I] called for flaps 1 at 220 KTS. Received te flap disagree warning. Flaps did not move out of the up position. [We] received vectors to runway xy. Accomplished QRH checklist while being vectored and declared emergency. Flaps were positioned to 20 and landing was accomplished uneventfully. Approach speed was 144 and minimal brakes were used. Cleared runway and had fire/ rescue check for hot brakes. Thermal imaging for hot brakes was negative. [We] taxied to [the] gate.

Title: B757 Captain reports TE Flap Disagree Warning during approach. Landing with flaps 20 using alternate flap selector ensued after complying with QRH procedures.
