Narrative:
Due to a #1 thrust reverser ECAM during cruise flight; a diversion was initiated as per flight manual irregular procedure and after consulting with dispatch and maintenance control. Flight proceeded normally to the diversion airport where an overweight landing was accomplished. Landing was normal with vertical descent less then 300 FPM. Rollout was normal except for the inoperative #1 reverser. Normal taxi to the gate. Aircraft was about 6;000 pounds over maximum landing weight.
