Narrative:
Passing 10000 ft MSL, we began to accelerate to climb speed. The controller questioned our speed and asked if we were assigned 250 KTS by mco tower. After checking the ACARS clearance, airspeed was noted. The location in the center of the paragraph after the altitude gave the impression that once the altitude was changed, so was the airspeed. I should have known better. Suggest separate line on clearance for airspeed and altitude.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR LGT FAILED TO FOLLOW ITS SPD RESTRICTION LISTED ON THE PREDEP CLRNC.
Narrative: PASSING 10000 FT MSL, WE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE TO CLB SPD. THE CTLR QUESTIONED OUR SPD AND ASKED IF WE WERE ASSIGNED 250 KTS BY MCO TWR. AFTER CHKING THE ACARS CLRNC, AIRSPD WAS NOTED. THE LOCATION IN THE CTR OF THE PARAGRAPH AFTER THE ALT GAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT ONCE THE ALT WAS CHANGED, SO WAS THE AIRSPD. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. SUGGEST SEPARATE LINE ON CLRNC FOR AIRSPD AND ALT.
