Narrative:
Referring to diagram on reverse, we back-taxied down runway 27, entered first taxiway to left and made u-turn around for runway 27 departure. Although undetected at time of incident, the left outboard wing flap fairing scraped a 1/2 inch support post to airport equipment (48 inches AGL) located extremely close to 'U-turn' taxiway just prior to re-entering runway 27. The aircraft was on taxi centerline at all times. The airport had recently been newly improved through resurfacing and equipment installation, yet no signs of precaution were installed regarding close proximity of this equipment with taxiway. It is reporter's recommendation that proper signage and/or equipment be relocated so as to prevent future incidents. Through conversations with airport operator it was discovered that another aircraft hit this same equipment during same general period.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CPR CL60 CHALLENGER TAXIED DOWN RWY 27 FOR DEP. IN MAKING TURN AROUND ON EXIT AREA AT END, L WING FLAP FAIRING STRUCK ELECTRICAL BOX UNMARKED. MINOR DAMAGE AND ACFT FLEW FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE PERMANENT REPAIRS WERE MADE.
Narrative: REFERRING TO DIAGRAM ON REVERSE, WE BACK-TAXIED DOWN RWY 27, ENTERED FIRST TXWY TO L AND MADE U-TURN AROUND FOR RWY 27 DEP. ALTHOUGH UNDETECTED AT TIME OF INCIDENT, THE L OUTBOARD WING FLAP FAIRING SCRAPED A 1/2 INCH SUPPORT POST TO ARPT EQUIP (48 INCHES AGL) LOCATED EXTREMELY CLOSE TO 'U-TURN' TXWY JUST PRIOR TO RE-ENTERING RWY 27. THE ACFT WAS ON TAXI CTRLINE AT ALL TIMES. THE ARPT HAD RECENTLY BEEN NEWLY IMPROVED THROUGH RESURFACING AND EQUIP INSTALLATION, YET NO SIGNS OF PRECAUTION WERE INSTALLED REGARDING CLOSE PROX OF THIS EQUIP WITH TXWY. IT IS RPTR'S RECOMMENDATION THAT PROPER SIGNAGE AND/OR EQUIP BE RELOCATED SO AS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS. THROUGH CONVERSATIONS WITH ARPT OPERATOR IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ANOTHER ACFT HIT THIS SAME EQUIP DURING SAME GENERAL PERIOD.
