Narrative:
Upon clearance from ramp control at clt we taxied to gate xx. Per standard air carrier aircraft receipt procedures, I aligned the aircraft with the lead-in line and began to follow the marshaller's directions down the line. An air carrier catering truck was observed on the left side of aircraft. I slowed the aircraft, and from what I could see, as well as the guideman's continued forward signals, we concluded the aircraft was clear. As we stopped, the left wing navigation light came in contact with the truck.
