Narrative:

Small hole (less than 1/4 inch diameter) reported in aft cargo pit floor. Maintenance called to investigate. Hole determined to exist, but not pose a safety threat. Rather than take a maintenance delay, a class ii maintenance message was reported in the discrepancy section of maintenance logbook. Fault was cleared and aircraft dispatched for flight -- the hole was never repaired. This was a bad discretionary decision, made by the captain and mechanic. I was in error for not being assertive enough as the first officer to prevent the release of the aircraft before. Proper repairs were made to patch the hole.
