Narrative:

Cleared by ground control to 'taxi from FBO at north end via taxiway Z to run-up area at runway 30 and hold at taxiway a.' no other traffic a factor. 2 mi long taxi. Tried to find taxiway a on airport diagram, but not on plate. Crossed taxiway a without ever seeing it. Signs are at edge of taxiway and low and taxiway is so wide it was out of visual field. Recommend markings be painted on surface for such a wide pavement for small low planes to see. Also, better taxi charts.
