Narrative:
On said date, our commercial flight was taxiing for takeoff. Ground control switched us to tower when we neared the approach end of the runway. Tower told us to 'cross runway 28, cleared for takeoff runway 23L.' I read the clearance back verbatim and began the before takeoff checklist. As I finished the checklist and looked out the window, I saw the captain taxiing across runway 23L headed for runway 23R. I challenged the captain by asking him if our data and clearance was for runway 23L, not 23R. He said he heard 'cleared for takeoff runway 23R.' I told him I thought it was runway 23L we were cleared for takeoff. By this time the captain had taxied onto runway 23R. The cle tower then said to us 'you are now cleared for takeoff runway 23R, your previous clearance was for runway 23L, but that's ok.' we took off runway 23R without further incident. As a first officer I failed to monitor the aircraft's progress as I was doing the checklist. I should have prevented the captain from taxiing onto runway 23R, a runway which we had not been cleared onto.

Title: CAPT OF AN MLG TAXIED TO A WRONG RWY AFTER TWR CLRED HIM FOR TKOF.
Narrative: ON SAID DATE, OUR COMMERCIAL FLT WAS TAXIING FOR TKOF. GND CTL SWITCHED US TO TWR WHEN WE NEARED THE APCH END OF THE RWY. TWR TOLD US TO 'CROSS RWY 28, CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 23L.' I READ THE CLRNC BACK VERBATIM AND BEGAN THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST. AS I FINISHED THE CHKLIST AND LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW, I SAW THE CAPT TAXIING ACROSS RWY 23L HEADED FOR RWY 23R. I CHALLENGED THE CAPT BY ASKING HIM IF OUR DATA AND CLRNC WAS FOR RWY 23L, NOT 23R. HE SAID HE HEARD 'CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 23R.' I TOLD HIM I THOUGHT IT WAS RWY 23L WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. BY THIS TIME THE CAPT HAD TAXIED ONTO RWY 23R. THE CLE TWR THEN SAID TO US 'YOU ARE NOW CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 23R, YOUR PREVIOUS CLRNC WAS FOR RWY 23L, BUT THAT'S OK.' WE TOOK OFF RWY 23R WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AS A FO I FAILED TO MONITOR THE ACFT'S PROGRESS AS I WAS DOING THE CHKLIST. I SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE CAPT FROM TAXIING ONTO RWY 23R, A RWY WHICH WE HAD NOT BEEN CLRED ONTO.
